MB STRONG WIN DOUBLE GOLD AT AAA HOCKEY CHALLENGE

May 4th was a good day for the Manitoba Strong organization as they completed the goal they set out for from day one....  Win the Brandon Source for Sports AAA Hockey Challenge in both the 1999 and 2000 age groups.

1999's - Manitoba Strong finished the round robin 2-0-1 which was good enough to secure first place and get a bye into the tournament final.  In the final they would play the Winnipeg Renegades.

After 40 minutes of play at the Keystone the Strong trailed 3-1 and didn't look like the same team that had been so successful early on in the tournament.  The Manitoba Strong stormed back to tie the game and force OT.

Overtime would settle nothing and it was off to a shootout.  In the shootout Manitoba would score on their second attempt on a snipe by Zach Wytinck and that was all they needed as Reese Jones did what he did all weekend, stand on his head and the Manitoba Strong won the tournament.

Benoit Mowbray was awarded the 1999 division tournament MVP.

2000's- Manitoba Strong cruised through the round robin going 4-0-0 and earned themselves first place putting them in a game with the fourth seeded Manitoba Punishers.

In the semi-final game the Strong continued their dominants as they sailed into the finals on a 10-2.

In the gold medal game the Manitoba Strong faced off against the Junior Steelers from Winnipeg.  This team had proven to be a tough opponent as the Strong merely defeated them 4-2 in round robin action.  The boys didn't underestimate the Steelers and played them hard right from puck drop.  At the final buzzer it was 6-0 Manitoba Strong and they were crowned Champions.

Unofficial MVP of the 2000 division was Koby Morrisseau of the Manitoba Strong.
